The eyes are said to be the window to the soul and certainly over our lifetime our eyes will help us to express emotions good or bad.

As our eyes provide a focal point for our faces it is often one of the first of our features noticed by others.

So it stands to reason that many people want to keep their eyes looking good as they age.

As the skin around the eyes is up to 10 times more delicate than the skin of the rest of your face sun damage will show up earlier in this area than anywhere else.

Protect your eyes by using eye skin care products or a general facial moisturizer with an SPF of at least 15.

2. Don’t Smoke

A close second to sun damage. Smoking causes wrinkles we all know that!

The action of drawing on a cigarette often causes you to squint as you try to avoid getting smoke in your eyes acerbating the problem.

If you don’t want crow’s feet then don’t smoke – it’s that simple.

3. Wear Sunglasses

Bright sunlight makes you squint. Any action that causes you to squint or screw up your eyes on a regular basis will hasten the appearance of wrinkles around the eyes.

Protect both the health of your eyes and the skin around your eyes by wearing sunglasses.


4. Remove Make-Up Gently

Cotton pads or balls are recommended for removing eye make-up or applying cleanser to this delicate skin area.

Hazelnut oil is ideal for the eye area as it is one of the lightest base oils, heavy creams and oils applied to the eye can cause sagging.

Make your eye serum according to your age group, mix the ingredients together well and store in a cool, dark place. Your eye serum should last for up to a month.

Apply a small amount of your serum to the eye area each night very gently. Leave the serum to soak in for 5 minutes and gently blot away any excess oil.

10 ml Hazelnut oil
4 drops Chamomile essential oil

Age 30 – 40
10 ml Hazelnut oil
3 drops Evening primrose oil
2 drops Lavender oil
1 drop Lemon oil

Age 40 – 50
10 ml Hazelnut oil
6 drops Evening primrose oil
2 drops Lavender oil
2 drops Palma rosa oil

You can also add 1 Vitamin E capsule to this blend by piercing the capsule to extract the contents.

Age 50+
10 ml Hazelnut oil
5 drops Jojoba oil
1 drop Lavender oil
1 drop Rose oil or Bois de rose oil
1 drop lemon oil
Add 1 – 2 Vitamin E capsules for maximum effect
